Tom and Melissa have been serving with Armed Forces Baptist Missions since 2008, when they were invited to a conference at the headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia. At that time, they knew God was calling them to serve the military. Tom had already graduated from college with a degree in Theology, and was serving as a deacon in his local church. After Tom and Melissa joined on with AFBM, God opened the door to plant a church in Colorado Springs, CO at strategic location for reaching out to several centers of military operations including Fort Carson, Peterson AFB, Schriever AFB, the Air Force Academy and NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command).

In 2009, God allowed Tom and Melissa to open the doors to Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church in the Widefield area of Colorado Springs. Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church has seen a steady increase in attendance over the past six years. The church is currently meeting in a store front, which has adequately served their needs so far, but the church is now growing to the point that they need to locate to a larger facility. Tom and Melissa and Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church are actively praying for a building of their own that will not only serve the church family but also allow Tom and Melissa to open a service center for the military in the area.

God calls AFBM missionaries to serve in unique ways around the globe. Maybe He is calling you to have a special role in Tom and Melissa’s ministry to our heroes. Please pray about partnering with them through prayer and/or financial support.
