May 2019 – The Carragher Chronicles

Dear Faithful Supporters,

We would like to start this prayer letter by thanking all of you for your faithful prayers and support.  My family and I would not be able to serve the Lord without your faithfulness.

As we pray for each of you, we are reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words to his sole supporting church:

“Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.  For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.   But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.”  ~Philippians 4:15-18

Like Paul, we do desire fruit for your account.  From time to time, the Lord allows us to stand in glimpses of His glory and harvest fruit here on earth.  It is our sincere prayer that in a few words we can explain the fruit we harvest on your behalf.  We thank God for the fruitful time since our last prayer letter.

Every soul saved, every life changed, every time we proclaim the Word of the Lord, you are with us and we are part of your ministry.   We work daily to continue to earn your faith and seek to do the best we can for you and to bring honor to our Lord and Savior.

It is an honor to report that the Lord allowed our shared ministry to witness His miracle of salvation six more times.  We are thankful for the increase.  However, we know there are so many more that we need to reach with the gospel of peace. In the past three months, we have ministered on two bases, on two Christian Camps, and with two of our missionaries.

Yesterday, we spent the morning reviewing a proposed phone and tablet application (“App”) for Wounded Spirits. The application will allow laymen, pastors, and those seeking help to open it and be able to click on characteristics of PTSD, and these people will be connected with a well thought out Biblical explanation using verses and helps on how the Lord can provide hope.

We will need to fund raise and spread awareness through media. Currently, we’re reaching about 1,200 people a year with our PTSD training. Media experts believe adding a real time application will increase that number to at least 50,000 people in our first year. If the numbers ring true, just the suicidal awareness aspect may save 50 lives.

Our last three PTSD training workshops and camps were the largest we’ve seen in years. We thank God for the increase!

Through our research, we have found two more bases stateside and five overseas bases requiring church plants. Pray with us for the Lord to provide laborers and supporters to get them to the field.

As in years past, Grace Baptist Church in Lees Summit, MO provided thousand’s of Scripture for our military heroes. The Lord has used this church over the years to provide more than 350,000 Scriptures for our heroes. We are thankful for their sacrifice and moved by their love. Please pray as the Scripture goes out around the world that they will be received open hearts.

Join me in praying for several missionaries struggling with life threatening illness. These are dear, sweet people who trust the Lord through these great trials. I know they would love your prayers for them as well as their families.

We said farewell for now to one of our long-term missionaries, John Little. John was a WWII Veteran with more than 60 years of service in the ministry. He left behind his dear wife Martha, two children, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. His ministry to the veterans and their families at a long-term care facility was among the most fruitful I have ever seen. He poured his life into so many, and I believe he was met by many he led to the Savior he loved.

Thank you again for your faithfulness in prayers and support. We are unworthy of all the Lord has given us through you. We spend every day trying to serve in a way that will bring honor to our Lord and to earn your trust.

Your servants,

Doug and Debbie Carragher
