January 2020 – The Armor Bearer

“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” ~Acts 20:28

Dear Pastor, Prayer Warriors and Friends,

Thank you for your prayers, support and love for our shared ministry. The Lord continues to answer your prayers and reach our mission field. I want to use this letter to introduce one of our church planting missionary families to you.

God has called the McCain family to England after 30 years of combined ministry experience to minister to a congregation that is primarily American military. Suffolk County is home to the tri-base area made up of RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall and RAF Feltwell. There are 10,000 active duty U.S. Air Force and civilian employees stationed there and another 10-15 thousand Americans when you factor in families.

A pastor from the States went to England in 2017 and helped a group of military families form an independent fundamental Baptist church in the middle of the three bases. He was deported for doing religious work on a tourist visa and the church searched for several months for a missionary who could come pastor. The McCains learned about the need in February 2018 and began to pray for them, but little did they know that God would be sending them after a season of prayer and fasting.

Their goal there is to carry out all aspects of the Great Commission. In addition to reaching as many as they can with the gospel, they desire to disciple the military portion of our congregation which rotates out every two to three years and edify them to be faithful and committed to the local churches to which they return. They will have a heavy missions emphasis and it is their desire that many of the boys and girls (and even parents) who attend while they are stationed over there will surrender to worldwide missions. In this way, churches that support them can have a hand in the calling of more missionaries into the harvest field.

They have been on deputation for all of 2019 and in that time have raised 45% of their needed support to get to the field. They are praying that God provides the rest of their support in time to reach the field by December of this year. God bless our troops, and God save England!

The church family in England is waiting on their arrival. If your church can help them reach our heroes stationed at these bases, please contact Brother McCain at 803-960-6424. You can find more information about the McCains at: godsavebritain.com.

On behalf of our AFBM Family—May the Lord bless you, Doug Carragher, General Director
