March 2024 Armor Bearer

Dear Faithful Prayer Warriors and Supporters,

Perhaps like me, you are excited at the arrival of Spring. For many it means warmer temperatures and the many signs of new life all around them. This time of year also means our wonderful opportunity to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What a glorious and essential element of our faith and a powerful truth to share with others! Like your church, our missionaries often see extra visitors for services on Easter Sunday. Join us in praying for spiritual fruit as God’s life-changing Word is proclaimed.

Thank you for faithfully praying for our AFBM missionary family. We know God is hearing and answering those prayers. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16b. To help you focus your continued petitions to God for your AFBM friends, I am sharing some specific ministry updates. Join us in asking God to work powerfully and to glorify Himself as He accomplishes His perfect will. Thank you in advance for your prayers.

Jon Gorman Family at Ridgeview Baptist Church, Colorado Springs Colorado. God is blessing this new church plant, and they are excited that He is opening more doors to ministry at Peterson Space Force Base. A significant ministry need now is for God to provide a new and more permanent meeting place for the church. Rental prices are very high there, but we believe God can stir the heart of a property owner to offer this new church a discounted rate. Pray with us for this need – nothing is too hard for God!

Jim and Suk Taylor at Haven Baptist Church, Kunsan South Korea. God continues to show Himself mighty as the Taylors labor to reach the servicemembers at Kunsan Air Force Base. In fact, they had 20 visitors last month! Please pray for fruitful follow-up. Besides the important preaching and teaching ministry and the Servicemen’s Center they operate every week, their ministry there also includes a school and Bible College. Join us in praying for God to meet two important needs. They are asking God for another teacher for Lighthouse School and a dean for Victory Baptist Bible College. Perhaps you know someone that God could use to meet one of those needs? If so, please ask them to contact the AFBM Home Office.

Rosalie Marshall serving military wives and families at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Besides continuing to pray for ongoing in-person and online Bible studies that Sister Marshall hosts for military spouses, she requests prayer for two upcoming annual outreach events. In April, she will host a Spouse Appreciation Banquet. Join her in praying for good participation and an encouraging and God-honoring time together. In July, she and others will host Vacation Bible School on Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Pray that God will provide her helpers for this important time and that many children will be reached with the Gospel.

Scott and Tammy McCain formerly serving near RAF Lakenheath in England. I had previously encouraged you to pray for the McCains who had returned to the US last Fall because of new British governmental sponsorship requirements. They now believe God has closed the door to ministry there. They have the support of their sending church as they prayerfully consider a new opportunity to assist a ministry to the military in Vicenza Italy. Pray that God makes His will clear during an upcoming survey trip.

Finally, remember to pray for more laborers. Contact us at AFBM if God is stirring your heart, or the heart of someone you know, about being more involved personally in getting the Gospel to our military servicemembers worldwide.

On behalf of your grateful AFBM Missionary family, Kevin Brown
