August 2017 – The Armor Bearer

“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love,”
~I Thessalonians 1:2

Thank you for your love for our military heroes, their families and our missionaries.  Your faithfulness is reaching our heroes, veterans and their families.

Many have contacted us and asked questions about our missionary families serving in South Korea and their current status.  As you can imagine with the situation in North Korea, there is awareness about the possibility of war.  This situation is scary and very nerve-wracking for our families.  Even more evident in our missionaries’ lives is their trust in the Lord for His protection and provision.  As Brother Drew Mahaney told me yesterday, “the Lord knew when He called our family to Korea everything that was going to happen.  His call is greater on our lives than any situation.  We are honored He has trusted us to reach our heroes during this time.”  Please continue to pray for our missionaries, the military and the dear people of South Korea.

I would like to share a couple updates I asked our missionaries on deputation to share with you.

First, from the Mahaney family: Drew, Lela, Eric (5), Nathan (3) and Reagan (2 months) Mahaney (son, daughter in law, and grand kids of AFBM Missionaries Rick and Suzi Mahaney serving at Barksdale Air Force Base).  The Mahaneys are church planters preparing to leave for South Korea in October.  “We are excited about what God has done in our ministry. We have purchased tickets to leave for South Korea on October the 16th. God has graciously provided 90% of our needed support. We are trusting that He will provide the remainder of our support before we leave. We are overjoyed to begin this next step in our ministry.”  Please contact Brother Mahaney at mahaneys2korea@yahoo.com if you would like to help them reach our heroes in harm’s way in South Korea.

Next, I would like to to share an update from the Kursinky family:  Daniel and Kelly Kursinsky are missionaries to our heroes at Fort Benning, GA. They are the parents of two grown sons. “We give God all the glory for 18 souls that have trusted Christ as their Savior in the last two months!  What a privilege it is to reach these young heroes before they ever get deployed. Please continue to pray for us and for our helpers: 1) to have access, and 2) for more souls to be reached through these Bible studies 3) for more monthly support – we are currently at 61%.”  Daniel is able to teach classes on base to our heroes in Basic Training.  This fruitful ministry is unique and greatly needed to reach our heroes at the US Army Infantry School.  Please contact Brother Kursinky at dkkursinsky@gmail.com if you would like to help reach our heroes preparing to deploy for harm’s way.

We are honored to serve with each or you as we reach our heroes with the Gospel.

On behalf of our AFBM Missionaries – May God bless you, Doug Carragher, General Director
