September 2024 Armor Bearer
Dear Faithful Prayer Warriors and Agency Supporters,
Is there some special event that you look forward to in your church or ministry each year? The big deal for us at AFBM happens each year in early August when we invite a portion of our missionary family to join us for AFBM Family Week. This 4-day gathering is designed to focus on God’s truth; offer encouraging opportunities for fellowship across the AFBM missionary family; and has as its primary goal to refresh and equip our dear missionary families for their important God-directed work around the world.
Hosted at the home of AFBM, Good News Baptist Church in Chesapeake VA, the days together also allow our missionaries to establish or renew friendships with the dear saints of that church. Every August those church members pour their hearts into ministering to our attendees as they open their homes, prepare delicious meals, and express sincere interest and offer verbal encouragement.
We are blessed at AFBM to have a Board of Trustees made up of many long-serving, faithful ministers of the Gospel. Although they already have significant commitments in their own ministries, they sacrifice their time to be with us. This year several of those godly men prepared spiritually rich and relevant messages focused on how pastors can effectively use Scripture to minister to their flocks. We also enjoyed powerful ministry updates and testimonies from each missionary family. What a blessing to hear how God is using them to reach and strengthen military families where they serve!
Those missionary families are now back in their place of service. Please pray for the transition in those military churches after the summer cycle of military moves. We are asking God to grow each work for His glory! Ask God to arrange the necessary divine appointments as they labor to make quick connections with new arrivals. It is always best for believers to get plugged into a good Bible-preaching church immediately. Also, pray that God will show them how they can apply some of the Bible truths they learned during Family Week.
As always, please continue to pray for more laborers. If God is stirring your heart, or the heart of someone you know, to reach our military for Christ, contact me or our Home Office.
On behalf of your grateful AFBM Missionary family, Kevin Brown
