September 2018 – The Armor Bearer

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ~Isaiah 9:6~

Dear Praying Friends,

We want to start by wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you, for your faithful prayers and support. The Lord continues to use your faithfulness to encourage our ministry and to reach our heroes.

The first pillar in our strategy to reach our heroes is to plant local churches outside of military bases. On Sunday, November 4th, Shalom Baptist Church will have its first official service. SBC is located right outside the gate of Fort Knox, KY, on Knox Boulevard and is Missionary David Russell’s third military church plant. Brother Russell’s first two churches are in Korea and doing well.

If you would like to help Shalom Baptist Church or visit, contact Brother Russell at: shalombaptistchurchfk@gmail.com. He will be glad to hear from you.

Please pray with us for this church plant.

During the Christmas season, we always field questions on how you can send packages to our military men and women. Several organizations have onbase contacts to pass out cards and gifts. Sadly, none of these national groups are Christian based. One group did pass out our cards at Walter Reed last year with each patient receiving too many to appreciate them.

With that in mind, I’d like to suggest for those close to a Veteran’s Hospital, Center, or Long Term Care Facility to contact them and put together care packages. I know several churches who do this annually and have great success. The package usaully includes a Bible, tract, candy or fresh baked goods and a gift or a gift card. Something as small as a $5.00 to McDonalds is coveted.

Recently, Fellowship Tract has re-styled Dr. Carragher’s “Final Orders” tract from individual branches of the armed forces to one generic format. As the Lord provides, they give these tracks away to churches and individuals to distribute.

Finally, pray for our heroes during the Christmas season. This time of year it is particularly difficult to be away from home, and from experience we know it to be especially lonely.

Again, thank you for your faithfulness to our heroes and their families. With our Lord’s help, you’re making a huge difference.

For those interested, you can now purchase AFBM and Wounded Spirits clothing online at their respective websites.

Your servant,

Doug Carragher, General Director
